Mulan
Date: 2020-02-06 12:26 am (UTC)That he had added her name to the watch list made her heart swell with pride, even as her mother tutted. She was glad to use her skills for her home, her friends, her family.
Her husband had not disagreed, even as he had ridden to the nearest town to see how they fared.
They were China's to command, serving the needs of the people.
They willingly gave all.
Isabela, Dragon Age
Date: 2020-02-06 06:26 am (UTC)If it weren't Kirkwall she wouldn't chance this departure, the half face in the closest waxing moon, would be a warning. The pounding in her chest, the nerves that make her bare shoulders break out in pinpricking gooseflesh, it's not the moon's fault. It's just the leaving. Under cover of darkness and retreating tides.
"No goodbyes, no regrets," she whispers, alone and to the waves.
"Captain," calls the Boatswain, and Isabela turns slightly to look over the railing. "There's a light on shore."
She follows the line of his arm as he points behind them. There's not enough moonlight to illuminate the red hair she imagines. But she recognizes the stance, and the shadow of the sword and shield.
A sigh escapes her chest with an ache. She'll be back, she knows. Someday.
She casts her voice down at the Boatswain, or one of a dozen crewmates in distant earshot. "Hang a lantern," she commands. "Let them watch it disappear into the night."
The Moon - Batwoman - Alice
Date: 2020-02-07 12:16 am (UTC)Fandom: Batwoman
Female Character: Alice
Rating: G
Word Count: 126
Summary: Alice thinks about the moon
“Waning and waxing, waning and waxing, waning and waxing,” Alice sing-songed.
“What’s that about?” Mouse asked.
“Thinking about the moon, my dear Mouse. How sometimes it seems larger and sometimes it seems smaller. Almost as if it ate something it shouldn’t or drank something it shouldn’t.”
Mouse giggled and poured her some tea.
“And I think that I am like the moon. When we first met, I was small, so very small, helpless. And now, thanks to you, my friend, I am so much larger, so bright, everyone can see by my radiance.”
“That’s beautiful, Alice.”
“But I think the time has come for me to show the world all of myself. And when that happens, no part of me will ever be in shadow again.”
