I'm usually not a fan of posting to comms, but since this celebration is about to close I figured it wouldn't hurt to share some recs I've posted in my journal over the past few weeks.

12 femslash recs from Doctor Who, Glee, Leverage, and Merlin.

2 Doctor Who femslash recs.

7 female-centric Star Trek recs.

I was going to write more this year, but just couldn't seem to do get there. Instead, I'm following the example of others and sharing some of my work from the past year.

Star Trek: TOS and AOS mostly )

Babylon 5 )

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li )

A general listing of my female-centric fic for the past year (by fandom):

beauty in the breakdown -- He's very clear when they first meet: "Someday I'm going to break your heart." Later, Zatanna Zatara discovers that when he's right, John Constantine is right.

Façade -- No matter which of the faces Batman wears, they still manage to gel together. And it's almost enough for Zatanna. Almost.

stop to check you out -- Zatanna Zatara and John Constantine talk. While stoned. Need I say more?

never as it seems -- A rough interpretation of the events of the Star Trek film filtered through River Tam's eyes.

What Remains -- Zoe finds River in Serenity's cockpit. As always, there's more going on than meets the eye.

Noble in Reason -- As Oscar Wilde said, "Between men and women there is no friendship possible. There is passion, enmity, worship, love, but no friendship." Rose Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy know this better than most.

don't sound like no sonnet -- Wonder Woman and Batman have a talk while he's recovering from that whole Doomsday mission thing. As always, more is said than the words they exchange.

always vulgar and often convincing -- Dani Moonstar happens upon Sam Guthrie watching some questionable television late one night.

in a sense gone -- Sam Guthrie wants to know why Dani Moonstar's been copping an attitude with him and she's not talking-- not willingly, anyway.

it will do thee no good -- In which Illyana Rasputin is naughty and Kitty Pryde tries to scold her, then things devolve into a pillow fight.

let go and know -- After her chat with the Beast, Molly Hayes decides to visit the X-Men in NorCal about the whole extinction thing. First, though, she foils Sebastian Shaw's escape attempt and semi-rescues Wolverine.

Sweet Content -- For Dani Moonstar, there's nothing like sharing a porch swing with a beer and a good friend.

A Place Called Perfect -- Abby Sciuto and Tim McGee walk Jethro the dog. They have a reversal of roles as she talks about the future and he tries not to think about it.

Continuing Ziva's Cultural Education -- "Lesson #174: The Knock-Knock Joke"

What's Past is Prologue -- A series of unscenes (or unseen/missing scenes) between Tim McGee and Abby Sciuto over the course of Season Seven. (Find it via AO3 or at ff.net)

A Wise Fool -- Short piece about the lines we draw, how they blur and what reality really is... or isn't.

a doer a wooer -- Leonard McCoy runs into Christine Chapel during an overnight hospital shift and they chat. (Well, more like exchange witty repartee and make interesting expressions at each other, while communicating surprisingly well.)

a matter of time -- When Janice Rand was assigned as yeoman to James T. Kirk, she knew he'd be trouble for her. A case of (mostly) one-sided Kirk/Rand.

another day, another daring rescue -- Five times Janice Rand rescued Jim Kirk and one time she didn't need to.

better days then this -- The Enterprise makes official first contact with Angel I. Uhura leads the away team; things go well, then they don't.

Cosmic Jokes, Karmic Retribution and Other Excuses for Life's Little Ironies -- Christine Chapel does not like hostile work environments or Leonard McCoy, and she's not shy about letting people know about it, especially her family. Featuring assorted female cousins and siblings.

Freedom's Reign -- Gaila came to Starfleet Academy for freedom, just not the kind most expect.

Hell of a Woman -- Leonard McCoy was fine with the way he was: damaged and bitter and determined to stay that way. Then he met Christine Chapel.

her honor bright -- Uhura stands up for what she believes in. Unfortunately, at sixteen, all it gets her is in trouble. Thankfully her grandmother provides some perspective.

if you miss, you may hit a star -- Christine Chapel isn't quite sure what it means to be a nurse in Starfleet but she thinks maybe an elective piloting course will help her figure it out.

leave your things behind -- Elizabeth Dehner has always had a plan. Then Vulcan is destroyed and things aren't so simple anymore.

Prelude -- The infamous alien known as Q meets the intrepid explorers of the Enterprise. It's just not the Enterprise he generally frequents... and his interest isn't in the Captain, either, but in his Yeoman.

Salt, Sweat, Sugar -- [WWII AU] Christine Chapel thought she knew where her life was going, then war broke out and she met a man named Leonard McCoy and things weren't that straightforward anymore.

something more than nothing: 1 | 2 | 3 -- Three part short story in which Christine Chapel and Leonard McCoy deal with the something more than nothing between them.

time to realize -- Five times Jim Kirk (belatedly) realized something (somewhat obvious) about Janice Rand and one time she proved what he'd always known.

Lightning Strike -- Jackie Burkhart knows it'd be stupid to fall for Steven Hyde. Lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place.

A Contest Most Fierce -- Lorna Dane shows Dani Moonstar that there's more to be done with watermelons than simply eating them.

on a stormy afternoon -- A thunderstorm makes Illyana Rasputin wonder what would happen if Jeb Guthrie was hit by lightning and then uses her wiles to try and get him to find out.

the lady doth protest too much, methinks -- Rogue deals with the Awesome Pain of hating Gambit. (Because she doesn't like him, okay?)

watch me burn -- Destiny comes for Jean Grey in the form of the Phoenix. (or, how one of Charles Xavier's premonitions comes true)

I wanted to write something original, but I just started a new job that's chewing up my creativity for the moment. So here are some women-centric stories I've written in the past year.

Under a Rhyming Planet
Winona/George | adult | 1,790 words | Winona convinces George to make the most of their shore leave together.

Darkness Always Gets There First
Winona Kirk | all ages | 4,200 words | Winona Kirk wants revenge. Life keeps getting in the way.

You Certainly Have a Way With People
Gaila/Jim | adult (violence, language, and threatened/attempted rape) | 4,000 words | A couple of Klingons decide to pick a fight with the legendary Kirk while he's on shore leave. Gaila defends her captain with much bad-assery ... and a bat'leth.

If You Can't Crawl
Gaila, Charlene Masters | teen | 1,300 words | Things that get left behind, and things that do not.

Morning Finds You Still Warm and Breathing
Uhura/Spock | adult | 3,000 words | She can't say what she needs, but he gives it to her anyway.

Nothing So Certain As Your Anchors
Uhura/McCoy | adult | 5,300 words | On an away mission, Uhura is the only one to witness McCoy's abduction by smugglers. She has only a few seconds to decide whether to run for help or try to save him herself.

These are a few of the fics I have written in the past year to celebrate the women of Star Trek, who didn't get much screen time but kicked ass anyway.

The Sum of Both of Us - The first time Spock asks Uhura out, she declines. She's got a career to think about, after all. PG, 3800 words.

Pro Familia Mori - Winona Kirk was captain of the U.S.S. Kelvin for 12 minutes. She saved 800 lives. - AU, PG-13, 2300 words. Warning for character death.

How Winona Kirk Fell in Love, Found Her Strength, and Healed a Relationship with Bread Pudding - Winona Kirk falls in love with George over a freshly baked bread pudding. The rest is history. PG-13, 4100 words.

A Profound Coming Loose - Amanda is ready for sex, but Sarek isn't. It's not an easy conversation, but it's not a hard one either. - PG-13, 2000 words.

Five Times Gaila and Sulu Saved Each Other - Even tough, independent people need saving once in awhile. Gaila and Sulu save each other from fears and insecurities, tarantulas and Starfleet ration bars, failed simulations and lost promotions. And space pirates. Twice. - PG-13, 12K words.
