I'm not sure if it's fannish enough, but I just finished the comic that gave us the Bechdel Test, "Dykes to watch out for". I wrote a rec on my lj.

From there I found this very cute fancomic about the resident DTWOF Harry Potter fan Janis, the artist of which also has some very cute Monstrous regiment femslash and other fanart.

If you want some great long illustrated femslash stories you should check out thelittlebang. All the stuff I've read is great!

Mansfield Park by Jane Austen: As the Starling said, Mary/Maria. What happens to Mary and Maria after the story ends. Nicely understated, here's a longer review I found from last year (after I went "Wait, Mansfield Park is already a tag??" :)).

Gilmore Girls: The Power of Myth Rory/Paris. Dateline: Washington, DC, January 2012. 50 awesomely improbable moments in the future of Paris Geller.

Star Trek: The First Time OFCs. The Federation from the POV of two Malaysians. (Ok, it's not very femslashy, but it is very good :))

The Privilege of the Sword: Correspondence OFCs. Adorable story of two girls reading letters to each other.

[Picspam] Misaki Yuka of "Long Love Letter"

Long Love Letter is an 11-episode Japanese drama about a handful of students and teachers transported to a POST APOCALYPTIC WASTELAND. It's clear pretty early on that Misaki and Asami are the only two 1) competent, 2) SANE adults in this bleak and deadly new future.

Fortunately for everyone, Misaki is fantastic. I love her for risking her own job to protect her students. I love her for taking charge of a horrible situation, and maintaining her grace and dignity--and her sense of humour!--despite everything she's put through.

I just pulled these images from my giant Long Love Letter picspam; they haven't been touched up, so some of the caps are a bit murky looking.

Long Love Letter is definitely a flawed series--there's some cracky moments that come out of nowhere, and are never really explained. And the characters are sometimes too stupid to live. The series certainly isn't afraid to beat viewers over the head with it's message, either.

And yet, I still love the series deeply. Misaki ♥

For this year's halfamoon, I decided to make a vid about one of my all-time favorite female characters - Sydney Bloom of the short-lived series VR.5. The show only had ten episodes in its original run (three more episodes were eventually shown on the SyFy channel), and it's not even available on commercial DVD (hence, some fuzziness in my source). Nonetheless, I love Sydney so much that I had to give it a try.

So apparently I couldn't miss out my first fandom. This is another one of those series where the female characters often end up as the support on the sideline, but when they do see action they tend to be pretty dang awesome and give it their best. For ChiChi and Bulma, their partners seem to always be away training and/or dead but they still remain very much in love and devoted to them. I've always liked that about them.

Now, I must admit, I threw this one together a lot quicker than I did with the others so far. The images are all pulled from one website and not all of them are of great quality. But hopefully I've grabbed a few which show the ladies being brilliant, which is what it's all about.

(My only sin is that I'm stunningly beautiful)
