Women of Power Rangers Celebration Post

On December 26, 2009 of last year, Power Rangers had concluded and with it, the tons of awesome characters and plots that have lived with us since childhood. Among these great characters were many excellent women. From the most heroic rangers from Trini and Kimberly all the way to Summer and Gemma; from the greatest villains like Rita Repulsa to Teneya 7; from the greatest sidekicks like Ms. Fairweather, Fran, and Dr. K. Power Rangers was filled with kickass and interesting and heartbreaking women, with enough range in personalities to appeal to almost all viewers.

 

To celebrate them, I shall take inspiration from the Doctor Who Celebration Post and create a love thread/celebration thread. From Mighty Morphin to RPM, choose any female character and leave a comment with the name of the female character in the subject line. Then you could start a thread say how much everyone else loves said character, their best moments or lines, fic recs, drabbles, picspams, etc, etc. You could even start a thread about one shot women that have left you with a great impression, though you’d have to specify the episode/season where they have appeared in.

 

The rules are same as the one for the DW Post; if you don’t like a certain female character, THEN STAY THE HECK AWAY FROM THEIR THREAD!!! This is a happy, positive celebration, so either ignore the disliked characters and go to the ones you love, or don’t comment at all. That goes for subtle jabs at other characters as well (“OMG, I heart Katherine so much, she doesn’t at least get kidnapped once an episode!”).

Trini! I love how she's the conscience of the team, and how she's an activist, and also that she's able to keep up with genius!Billy and translate all of the Billy speak and help him in his lab.

Rita! I mean, what can you say about her? When most people think of Power Rangers, she's the one that they think about. She was such a fun villain.

Scorpina is my favorite of the recurring villains. I love how good she is at her job, and the history hinted at between her and Rita, and also the one episode where she kidnaps Adam and Aisha is pretty much my favorite thing ever.

I love how Aisha isn't just a Trini clone, she has her own personality and her own quirks. I love how she can be really bossy, but that's because she's awesome at getting things done. I love her friendships with the other members of the team, and how she always stands up for what she believes in.

I love Tanya so much. She joined the boys baseball team, and when her boyfriend treated her badly, she dumped him. She knew she deserved better.And she turned down a record deal because she wanted to keep saving the world, knowing she could always go back to it later.

Nobody ever believes me when I tell them about PRiS and how even the villains were three dimensional real characters. Astronoma was fabulous as a villain, and then she got her redemption and became a Ranger herself. She's awesome.

I love Kendrix for a lot of reasons but I can't always articulate them. :) I love that she has faith in people and is willing to take a chance on complete strangers for no reason. I love her friendships with everyone. I love how smart she is. And I love the power of her big sacrifice, even now.

Maya. <3 I love how calm she always is, but that there's also a mischievous streak hidden under that calm. I love how strong she is: to keep going and to remain cheerful even after what happened to her world. I love the balance she had between having her emotional reactions and also being cool under pressure.

Ah, Trakeena. I love my vicious badass villains and Trakeena was one of the best. She went from spoiled pampered princess to ruthless warrior and she worked damn hard to get there because she refused to just roll over and let other people control her future.
