New halfamoon layout & promo banners!

Based on the 2010 layout, I've created new promo banners you can use to promote halfamoon in your own journals and comms!



The LJ layout for 2010 is a slight modification on Your Biggest Flan by thefulcrum.

This year I arranged the characters in the community banner according to the the divisions of Starfleet in Star Trek (2009). I picked characters based on a variety of factors (including, erm, how they were posed, and what I had on my harddrive when I started), but also based on personality traits, their jobs and lives, ages, and the roles they play in their stories.

Halfamoon's Command Officers are Teyla Emmagan, Sarah Connor, Olivia Dunham, Sophie Deveraux, and Wendy Watson

Halfamoon's Operations Officers are Tiana, Ziva David, Parker, Chloe Sullivan, and Nyota Uhura

---

Halfamoon's Life Sciences Officers are Martha Jones, Abby Sciuto, Cam Saroyan, Astrid Farnsworth, and Toshiko Sato.

And Halfamoon's Starfleet Academy Instructors are Gillian Foster, Lisa Cuddy, Donna Noble, Minerva McGonagall, and Sarah Jane Smith.

Hey y'all, so, some friends of mine--not me, I should emphasize, I didn't notice--were looking at these banners and noticed that there were no Asian women represented. Since you made a successful effort to be diverse and include Black women it kind of stuck out to them (and now that I see, to me) that everyone else was white. I know you're trying to stick to women from media popular in fandom, but that still leaves some options--off the top of my head, Toshiko Sato from Torchwood and any of the women from A:TLA, for instance, and I'm sure there are more. I'm not calling for you to redo the banners, which I think are lovely, but it's something to think about when making promo material for next year. Especially if you're open to comics and cartoons, there's a lot of diversity out there.

I really wanted to be more diverse, but I was pressed for time and limited by what I had to hand. You're 100% correct--I should have included Tosh in the Science Officers, and when I have a chance tonight to do icons, I'll make sure she's included.

Yes, please do picspam! I would love to see an Ace picspam, for Sophie is one of my fave people (and fantastic to interview as well).
