Day 10 - Fic - Desert Hearts- Vivian Bell
Feb. 11th, 2026 08:06 pmTitle: Hotel Room Blues
Fandom: Desert Hearts
Character: Vivian Bell (mentions of Vivian Bell/Cay Rivvers)
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 200
Summary: Responding to Cay's kiss had been foolish, but not the most foolish thing she'd done in the past few hours
A/N: Realized that I hadn't written a "Desert Hearts" fic yet this year, so this makes up for it.
Stupid! Vivian thought to herself as the door to her hotel room closed behind her.
Why was she here? Where else could she have gone? She didn't know anyone in Reno besides the people at the ranch and a few of Cay's friends and Silver was knee deep in wedding preparation and Gwen- well, she didn't want to interact with Gwen.
Time to think about this logically. She had done nothing wrong. Kissing Cay was just a fleeting impulse and nothing more than a stimulus response. Now that the stimulus had been removed. It was done with. Over.
She wondered if Cay had packed up and left like she said. If she had slammed the door of her studio so hard that they heard it echo throughout the ranch. If Frances had begged her to stay.
What did it matter? It was done. She was here and Cay was somewhere else. In another two weeks, Vivian would have her divorce decree and be on the next train out of town. Alone.
Vivian sighed loudly as she started to unpack her suitcase. Stupid! It was so stupid, leaving the ranch in anger without telling Cay how she really felt about her.
