Summary: Life and beauty can be paid for. In fact, it’s much easier to live if you have either money or health. Pinoko and Black Jack have neither. Nor can their bodies be “fixed” so easily. And Pinoko will never be a woman, in body.

You've done a beautiful job here! I don't know the franchise, but looked it up before reading.

You gave what could be seen as a side character her own life and agency. And it's a bittersweet life, with Pinoko having layers of personality - but also so many challenges to live with and through.

Pinoko makes me feel many things and it's always pretty disappointing to see her in anime adaptations. Her life is pretty much a tragedy but she's so upbeat, she became a big motivation for me.

Yes, I really love Pinoko but it's frustrating to see her appear so little (or so badly in most adaptations). She's a fighter though and inspirational.
