Prompts for HalfAMoon 2026

Here's the theme list for this year's fest. Reminder- if the theme of the day isn't working for you and you want to post something else with a central woman character, by all means, do so. The list is here for ideas and inspiration, but no one should feel limited if their imagination goes another way.

That said, if you're posting for a particular theme- Don't post before the day and if you're playing catch up and posting on the 13th for "Guilty Pleasures" from the 2nd, just indicate Day 2 and the masterlist folks will make sure it gets listed for the correct day. And if you're wildly inspired by "The Innocent" and want to post on that for all 14 days, go for it (but make sure you reference Day 1).

This year is all about archetypes. So I've listed the seven feminine archetypes on the odd number days and then something that plays against that on the even number days.

OMG! I just stumbled upon this community today, and I'm so glad that I did!! These prompts look amazing! The archetypes and their antitheses as prompts is probably the coolest themed set of prompts I've ever heard of!!

I think I'll try making icons based on the prompts! I'm not very experienced with icon making, but it sure is fun, and I can make those way quicker than I can write or draw anything haha.

I love the prompts! They sparked an idea in my mind which I am not sure I can pull off, but I would love to try. Just to make sure, is it alright to write these all as one long fic with every prompt being one chapter? Cause I'm having this idea of the archetypes being all one character discovering things about herself with the help of others she meets along the way and the things playing against them are obstacles they all have to overcome together. I have no idea whether it'll work, but it sounds really fun to try.

As long as each chapter contains a female character rooted in fandom, I'm ok with it. It sounds like a very interesting idea.

Make sure you provide links from the previous chapter to the next and vice versa so that people can easily navigate the fic. (With the structure you'll have to add them after the fact, which is a pain, but it'll help people coming to it later on.)

Awesome! I'll see if I can pull it off. I'm still writing for Fluffuary for now. But I am loving this idea so I'll try.

Oh yeah, I don't really know how to do the linking, but I guess I'll figure it out. I'll be posting everything on AO3 so it should be relatively easy.

Also, I love that icon! D'arcy and Asta are the best!

Welcome! We're happy you'll be joining us. To make sure that people can find your work during the fest, you'll at least need to post a header and a link to your Ao3 work. I'll have posting info up tomorrow so you won't be operating in the dark, but if you scroll a bit through the community, you'll find plenty of examples of people who post their work on Ao3.

If you have other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Looking forward to seeing you in February!

Is there also an official AO3 collection we should submit to? Or an official tag we should use?

You can post directly to the community, but depending on length, you may need to put it behind a cut (which can be a pain if you've never done it before- it took me an embarrassing amount of time to get the hang of it). There's an HTML guide that can walk you through it or just look up "cut tag" in the help section. Basically it's just (cut text="Title of Project") but you would substitute <> for ()

That said, it's probably easier to link either to your DW page or Ao3.

And, yes, we do have a collection over there under Halfamoon.
