Title: Of Forks and Fashion
Prompt: Day One: Fashion
Fandom: Leverage
Author:
mxcatmoon
Rating: T
Words: 416
Characters: Parker, Sophie
Summary: The team has to infiltrate another fashion show, and Parker is not happy about it. Sophie will need the strength of a saint to deal with the others.
TW: Mention of male objectification of the female body.
Notes: I was hard pressed to come up with anything for this prompt at first, because I have zero interest in fashion. Then I thought of Parker. Also, I am inordinately fond of Parker stabbing lecherous men with forks (although no men were stabbed in this fic).
"Hold still, Parker! I'm trying to finish altering this dress," Sophie told the fidgeting woman, enunciating the words perfectly despite having several pins in her mouth.
"Why do I have to go in as the model, anyway? You're the fashionista."
"You know why," Sophie chided, turning her around to get at the back of the outfit. "Our mark prefers blonds."
"You could wear a wig," the designated blond suggested hopefully.
"You'll do fine! Why don't you like beautiful dresses?" Sophie asked a few minutes later when her mouth was free of sharp things.
"I like to be comfortable. Besides, do you know what it's like to try and crawl through a vent in a dress? I've done it. Not fun. And rappelling down a building in the wind is no picnic with no pants!" she added.
"I see your point."
"What about Eliot? Last time we had a fashion show job, he even wore eyeliner. Or Hardison, you've seen how good he looks when he dresses up."
Sophie raised an eyebrow at how Parker's voice had gone dreamy at the mention of Hardison in sartorial splendor. It was about more than what the words were saying, though; she also knew the girl wasn't comfortable with having lecherous male gazes on her body, much less potential touching. To this day, the team still got nervous when Parker was around forks… Sophie stepped back, appraising the sexy red number she'd painstakingly put together for the occasion.
"Well, do I pass muster?" Parker asked, standing with her arms out from her body and sounding more like an Army recruit than a femme fatale.
Sophie stroked her chin thoughtfully. "You know," she began after a moment, "I have a better idea. I think we're going to change the playbook after all."
"Is Nate going to like it?" Parker queried.
"You let me worry about Nate."
"Am I going to like it?"
Sophie nodded. "I think some of us are going to like it more than others, however," she admitted with a grin.
As it turned out, the con worked just as well with Parker as an agent for Eliot and Hardison, two male models who were late entries into the drag portion of the fashion show. And Sophie ended up being the one who liked it least, having to play seamstress for two male divas in heated competition.
The important thing was, no forks were brandished (and the bad guy was taken down). Sophie counted that as a double win.
