“Your test results came back,” Doctor Nathan informed Shirley.
“I don't know why you needed to do tests. It was just a touch of stomach distress.”
“You're pregnant.”
Shirley stared at the doctor as her mind raced. She had brought this on herself when the demon lust that took over. The devil inside had whispered that sex was her way to power over men and she had been oh so tempted. She wanted to explore everything that she'd missed in her life. She wanted the things that she read about in trashy romance novels where everything turned out beautifully at the end- after the hero had given the heroine several worthwhile orgasms, of course. And this place was wall-to-wall men, each looking at her like she was so much more than some plain, ignorant girl from the sticks. They treated her like a queen and gave her what they could.
She smiled at Doctor Nathan. “Well, that's inconvenient. But it doesn't change anything. My execution should proceed as scheduled.”
Shirley said that because she knew there was no way that God would have allowed her to conceive after the accident. There was only one explanation. In her moral weakness, the Devil himself had impregnated her. She was grateful that her execution date was drawing near. This creature growing inside of her would never live to wreak destruction on the world. It would die with her and the world would be a better place for it.
