Title: In Title Only
Fandom: Game of Thrones
Female Character: Brienne of Tarth
Rating: Teen
Summary: Brienne's vision of herself doesn't fit her title
When her lessons with the Septas are done, Brienne makes her way to the armory. She doesn't need to learn how to serve drinks or dance. Dances aren't part of her future. The Septas seemed pleased with her carriage- large as she is, her posture is exquisite, she doesn't slouch or lean. They don't like that she stares straight ahead, saying that a lady should be more demure. She corrects them again and again- she's a lady in title only. Follow our instructions and you'll be a lady in more than title, they insist on and on and on again.
In the armory, she finds her preferred sword and begins moving through the forms that she first learned as a child when the Master of Arms gave her lessons of his own. He didn't think there was any harm in it- she could barely lift the sword when she first arrived, but with time and practice, she moves as gracefully as any girl out on the dance floor. A time will come when they'll see her for who she truly is- a gifted swordswoman.
Pity she'll never be a knight. That is one title she'd gladly accept.
