It was one kind of pain to know that you would never feel your mother's touch again, to know that you'd never come home to the smell of hot chocolate on a cold day, to know that you'd never taste the spaghetti and meatballs that had been your favorite meal since you were old enough to hold a spoon, to know that you'd never hear your mother's voice or see her face.

It was a completely different kind of pain to realize that most of those memories you had of her weren't real, weren't yours, that the time you had with her was shorter than she realized, that she didn't know you, not really. She only knew an illusion. It's a different, deeper kind of pain to realize that, as much as you want it, she won't be here to help you through this.

This HITS! on so many levels! A lot of that can even be applied very heavily to those of us who wake up one day and realize that we've been being abused by the very parents we loved and trusted to protect us... Yeah, this Very. Much. HITS! Good job!

Powerful. And it kinda echoes along the same lines of us who were abused by our mothers and had to realize that we'd never have the kind of maternal relationship by which so many others are blessed.
