Title: The First Supper
Fandom: Yellowjackets
Characters: Taissa
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Spoilers for all aired episodes
Summary: They're safe now, having a meal before a press conference; Taissa can't face the beef she used to love.
Natalie makes a joke about it being nice to eat something she hasn’t had to hunt for. No one else laughs; it’s still raw for them all. They’re all still too shellshocked, unable to believe that they’ve actually been found, that they’re safe, they’re somewhere with proper beds, running water, and all the food and drink they could want. Lottie still hasn’t spoken a word since they got there.
They’ve got this press conference after their meal, after which they’re supposed to be going home to their families. Shauna’s worried about seeing Jeff again; Van’s wondering if her mother’s even going to be sober enough to turn up. Misty, meanwhile, is the only one happily tucking into her beef, seemingly without a care in the world.
Taissa picks at her vegetables, unable to bring herself to even attempt the beef she used to love. Maybe if it wasn’t for the fact that she was nervous about dealing with the press, she’d be able to at least enjoy her vegetables; they’ve all come up with an agreed story, but she knows full well that there’s every chance some determined journalist might try and pick holes in it.
But it’s more than that; every time Taissa even looks at the beef, she knows she’ll never eat it because she sees Jackie’s face, (even if that had been Other Tai) or Javi’s, flash before her eyes.

But omg Misty "is the only one happily tucking into her beef, seemingly without a care in the world." Because of course she is. Well done!
