And still more Farscape recs!

This last post has a variety of female characters: the minor, re-occuring, and one-shot women who filled in the background against which Our Crew had their adventures. From the enemies they faced through the people they passed along the way to the very ship that carried them though the stars...As always - 'ware spoiler warnings! And as always - I could not have done this without [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda.

Picking out just a score of stories was hard. Check out the longer list that Kernie put together here.

On to the recs!

Gilina:

Hold by Ebonbird, NR, (give it a PG), mild het, Season One She is such a little mermaid. What happens to the girl you leave behind?

Foolish Girl by [livejournal.com profile] fourteenlines, R, Season One She thinks she can save him. Foolish girl. Gilina, keeping on, keeping on.

Mele-on Grayza:

In Bloom by [livejournal.com profile] kixxa,R, het/bob, pre-series - Kixxa tells us a tale about how it began.

Undercover Blues by [livejournal.com profile] life_on_queen, PG, post-series and PKW Grayza's undercover. Aeryn isn't. This could end badly. Polished and well-written. The Graza voice is convincing in its threatening undercurrents.

Jool:

Let Them Eat Cake by [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2, PG, mild slash. Season 3 Jool gets a lesson. Chiana gets dessert. Jool and Chiana, and a conflict of priorities. *Funny*.

Lost by BetanSurvey, G, gen, Season 3 She wasn't lying - she couldn't remember. Short and solid Jool background. For me, it was one of those "change the way you see the character" stories.

Leslie Chricton

Lost Saints by [livejournal.com profile] fourteenlines PG, het, Pre-series Leslie travels over oceans. It's about Leslie, but it weaves in the rest of the Crichtons as well.

Olivia Crichton

Meeting Family by [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda, G, Season 4, "Terra Firma" She look at Moya's walls with awe. Aeryn escorts John's sister through the living ship.

A New Direction by [livejournal.com profile] cretkid, G, Season 4, "Terra Firma". Sometimes it's not what people tell you. Olivia and her brother talk. Sort of. (Ignore the formating on this one. I think the story's worth it.)

Ephemera by [livejournal.com profile] fourteenlines, PG, gen, Season 4, "Terra Firma", futurefic. She will grow old. Oh, Olivia.

Susan Crichton

The Other Sister by [livejournal.com profile] life_on_queen, G, gen, pre-series Susan keeps the faith. This is not a happy story. But to me it seems real. (This author has written several other (more hopeful) stories about this same character.)

Noranti:

Recipere by KodiakkeMax, PG-13, Season 4. He cried out for the perfect sauce, but they wanted the leavings of his mind, brain-stem soup supped down and lapped with long pink tongues. One of the creepiest and most unsettling things to come out of the fanfic for this fandom - which, imo, is saying something.

Xhalax Sun:

Threnody for Innocence by [livejournal.com profile] kerlin, PG-13, pre-series Impossible choices and damned from the start. This is Xhalax Sun. Highly recommended

Butterfly Effect by [livejournal.com profile] kernezelda, PG, gen/bob, AU from Season 3, "Relativity" "It's a girl," she whispered. "The medtech said I'll have a daughter." Cause and effect and unforseen consequences.

Five Things that Never Happened to Xhalax Sun by [livejournal.com profile] pellucid, R, het/bob, Season 3, With Talyn it's like flying in that storm over and over, the terror always warring with the thrill. One night it's too much, and she's crying for the first time since she was a young cadet; he's holding her, trying to help but making it worse, and she can't stop falling.

Moya:

Finally Free by [livejournal.com profile] veritykindle, PG, gen, Season 3 Chains come in more than one form.

Burial by [livejournal.com profile] queenal, PG, bob, Season 3. Short and chilling.

Various Others:

First Loyalty by [livejournal.com profile] florastuart, PG, gen, pre-series. She knows this is the end. A plausable and engrossing incident in the pre-series life of Lt Teeg.

Better Living Through Chemistry by [livejournal.com profile] rubberneck, R, gen, Season 3, "Scratch 'N' Sniff (Raxil) I think I liked this short fic best because of the excellent voices.

Linear Progression by [livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie, R, het, Season 4, "Terra Firma" A longer story, exploring the earth woman that Crichton left behind. (Caroline)

Third Wheel by [livejournal.com profile] sugargroupie, PG, het, Season 4, "Bringing Home the Beacon" AU. It's billed as crack!fic, and I can't argue, but the central premise is one that's been done in canon, I can't help but laugh and keep reading.

As always, feel free to add your own recs.
