Astrid did not think love at first sight was for her.

She checked, all the same, with the help of her new book — just in case something had happened within her without her noticing, but there was nothing. Julien Frédéric — two first names, it was not confusing — wasn’t for her either.

The book did talk about love that came later, that grew in time between friends or close acquaintances. Astrid thought that love sounded more like her. Still, attempting to be friends with the object of falling in love later seemed foolish, and anyway Commander Coste — Raphaëlle — was her friend. One new friend was enough for the moment.

So Astrid was proud of herself as she told the story when Raphaëlle walked her home, and she was pleased that her friend seemed proud of her too. She was so pleased, in fact, that there was a detectable spike in her blood pressure.

Ah.

When Raphaëlle asked her about such feelings, Astrid told the truth. She didn’t know. It was much too early to know for sure.

But when she asked Raphaëlle up to her apartment and let her in, she thought that maybe she did know, a little, after all.

This is lovely and the fact that you even incorporated Astrid's trademark little "ah" is the cherry on top! <3

Thank you! It must be the first time I see anything for this show going around. Granted, I didn't go looking, but I do like watching it quite a lot so it was a wonderful treat to see how you captured Astrid so well with so few words :)
