New fic:

I was already working on this before, but it was [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon that prompted me to finish it. It's a Friday Night Lights story, about Tyra Collette during and just after her first semester at college. It's called "Chains and Fetters," and the details and the link are over in my journal.

Old fic:

1. Another FNL story about Tami and Julie Taylor, set at the hometown homecoming game in 2013, "Sun of a New Season."

2. A West Wing story that follows CJ through the years and through some of the significant moments in her relationship with Toby, "Flight Path." It's a CJ/Toby story, but it's very much about CJ.

3. A story called "All the Running You Can Do," written about Audrey Flankman in the short-lived CBC political drama "Snakes and Ladders." Nobody saw this show, which is a damn shame, because I'm still convinced that Audrey Flankman is the best female character ever to grace the small screen. The story is set a few years before the show, when Audrey (now a cabinet minister in the Canadian federal government) was first running for office. If that's your sort of thing, go ahead and read the story even if you don't know the show; it's pre-show, after all, and pretty removed from the action of the source text anyway. (And if you fall in love with Audrey too, I might be able to get you copies of the six episodes that were made. *g*)

I really enjoyed "Flight Path." I loved the character of CJ, and your story reminded me why. I also loved your introduction to Audrey Flankman. I certainly never got a chance to watch "Snakes and Ladders," as I live in California. I thought Fox was the network that canceled great shows before they had a chance to find an audience. The details about the decline of her mother, and the character's internal conflict over whether to stay close to home with her, or take up this opportunity that had been offered, to make a difference in a larger sphere, seemed very real.

I didn't read those two FNL stories to avoid possible spoilers. I have an unopened box of the first season of "Friday Night Lights." Maybe I need to get going on that sooner rather than later.

Just leaving work so no time for proper commentary now, but I am SO glad you posted the Tyra story! I love it, and hopefully I'll catch up with comments... sometime soon.

Oh, 'Flight Paths'! I loved that story so much back in the day. Will go re-read now and take a trip down memory lane.

Thank you for reminding me (and writing it back then *g*)

what a great character. *g*

Wasn't she just? At times I hated the way she was written and some of her storylines, but now years later Allison Janney's work really stands out in my mind. I caught a bit of a re-run of 'The Stackhouse Filibuster' recently and.... What can I say, she really owns that episode. (Apart from the absolutely hilarious scenes of Leo and Jed at dinner.)

but I do think it holds up okay, considering how freaking old it is.

Oh, it definitely holds up. I haven't read it in years and it still strikes me as very in-character with lovely character-voices.
