"During peace time, we rest and recuperate," explained Alisa, "We do not sit there crouched in the same place until we're needed in battle again like some sort of machine. Neither do we just fall asleep where we stand until someone wakes us up. And, whatever our esteemed teacher might try to teach by example," she huffed, "We do not get drunk off our faces every night."
"Nor... whatever Angelica keeps trying to do to me," added Emma, shuddering.
"Neither are you allowed to exhausted yourself trying to run the place single-handedly, or try to get yourself crushed under a mountain of paperwork, whichever it is that Towa is trying to do," Laura advised.
"You two are ones to talk," Fie said with a yawn, looking as thoroughly uninterested in what the others were saying as usual. The fact that she was there at all - and awake, even! - meant that the others were probably really special to her, by Fie standards, "Laura, you spent all last week training with your sword. And Celine spent the entire day asleep today."
"Celine is a cat," Emma reminded her, "A higher life-form that lives by its own incomprehensible set of rules. Besides, I thought I told you that Celine is nothing to do with me and definitely not my cat."
Celine, having randomly appeared on Laura's lap without her noticing, purred in response.
"I was under the impression that I wasn't being watched last week," Laura frowned, "And besides, sword training is relaxation for me. It's almost a meditative ritual. By contrast, last week you almost got yourself kicked out of the school when you tried to hire yourself, Crow and Millium out as mercenaries because you were bored."
Fie sulked, "Everyone else is allowed a part time job!"
"Incidentally, when was the last time any of you actually revised for an exam?" inquired Emma, "I know they're a long way away but there's a lot to get through this term and anyway, information is easier to memorise as you go along than to cram at the last second."
"Alisa said relax, not do the most stressful and boring thing possible," Fie reminded her, before stretching and rolling over on her bench.
"You know, you really do look identical to Celine in posture when you do that," said Laura, "There might be something in the going theory that you're actually a cat."
"Sure, whatever, I'm a cat, if it means you leave me alone and let me sleep," said Fie, yawning again and closing her eyes.
