Do you know an exchange, fest, challenge, etc. focused on female characters? Whether it's running now or later in the year, advertise it in the comments and help interested people find it.
everywoman is a low-pressure fic and art exchange for all female characters in all fandoms. It ran late-spring last year, and will probably have similar timing this year. (I'm not the mod.)
femslashex is a femslash fic and art exchange for f/f (and f/f/f and f/f/f/f) relationships that also includes genderqueer characters. It runs late summer through fall. (I am one of the mods.)
femmeremix is a remix challenge for female character-centred stories. It ran over the summer last year, and may do the same this year. (I don't mod this one either.)
rarelywritten is the annual exchange fest formerly known as "RareWomen." It runs in the spring, and has always been a lot of fun for me as a player.
(For most of its years, it featured rarely-written characters self-identifying as female. Recently, it changed to featuring rarely-written characters self-identifying as other than male.)
ladiesbingo runs every year from September 1st to March 31st. You can pick which prompt categories you wan or not and you're handed a 5x5 card. Then you can fill your bingo in any creative way you choose, for any kind of media you want. You "just" have to focus on the relationships between at least two female characters - lovers, friends, family, co-coworkers, rivals, enemies, whatever!
