For those of you not familiar with Azuma Kiyohiko's Azumanga Daioh, it is a show about nothing. No plot to speak of, no drama, no romance, not even any real conflict. What it is instead is a somewhat crazy, surreal slice-of-life comedy. It's focused on a group of girls, their teachers, and their everyday lives throughout their high school years. It's also possibly my favourite manga/anime in the history of anything ever.

There's also a distinct lack of male characters as anything else than faces in the background (the only one that gets a bit more spotlight is their creepy pervert teacher). It's all about the girls, their friendship, their lives and adventures. So while the series is mainly known for that specialcrazysurreal humor (as it rightly should be - it's something else!), it's also something of a goldmine for anyone looking for something that's focused on female friendship. I really, really highly recommend it to everyone ever. The manga is only four volumes of four-panel strips, so it wouldn't take up much of your time.
