I'd like to recommend a Yuletide story, but it is in a fandom so obscure I am first going to recommend the canon: Polly and the Pirates, by Ted Naifeh.

You are going to say, "Betty, do you mean I need to go out and buy a graphic novel in order to enjoy this Yuletide story?"

No! You should go out and buy SIX of this graphic novel; one to read, one to keep in mylar, and four to give out to younger relations who might otherwise damage their minds by reading inferior grade comics.

One of the things I love about Polly and the Pirates is that there are plenty of stories about women who have fraught relationships with their mothers, but we seem to lack stories about women who have to live with the fact that their mother was legendary.

I just finished watching this drama and while the ending makes me rage the women in it are awesome, so have a picspam. :)

Picspam: The Awesome Ladies Of Naruto

I love these girls. They will find the weak spot you don't know about, enter your mind, dance blades around in the air, blow you away in the literal sense and can smack your head off your neck with one punch. And more and more of them are being given healing techniques by Kishimoto (the author)*. They're also brave, (any twelve year old who enters a place called The Forest of Death is), gutsy and will give their fellow team mates as much help as they can.

Also, the current Hokage of the village is a woman. In what seems to be a very male-dominated world of the ninja, that's pretty dang awesome.

This picspam is mostly focused on the first part of the series. But there is a little smattering of Shippuden in there.

(*But, you know Kishimoto, it really wouldn't hurt to give that technique to a male character every now and again.)

Supernatural Fic - Your Own Kind of Hero

Two years ago for halfamoon I wrote a Supernatural story called More Than Just a Pretty Face about Jo Harvelle hunting a killer spook at my alma mater in Ann Arbor, MI. Along the way she met up with Kat (from 1x10 Asylum) and they took care of business.

Then, this past summer, I wrote a sequel, Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice, wherein Jo and Kat again partner up, this time with a little celestial aid, to stop a demon from breaking a seal.

And now, after all of the events of the first half of season five, I've written a new chapter in Jo and Kat's story. Because there's still a job to be done.
