I've been reading people's posts on this community and saying to myself "This is so cool! I have to contribute something! What can I contribute? Fic, recs, meta... what?"

And then it struck me: I love to write fanfic, but I'm not very good at finishing the stories I start... unless I have a prompt and a deadline and I know that somebody's going to be disappointed if I don't come up with the goods, because then my brain registers the writing as "duty" rather than "self-indulgence".

So! The first five commenters to give me a fandom, a female character or characters, and a prompt (a word, a phrase, a story concept, a quote) will get a story of at least 500 words which I will post before the fest is over.

Fandoms I can write for include:
24
Babylon 5
Firefly
Lucky*Star
Maria-sama ga Miteru
Marvel Comics (with the caveat that Marvel have a kajillion different characters, so I may not know the one you're most interested in, or not well enough to write fic for her; you might want to have a reserve request if you're asking for Marvelfic)
Revolutionary Girl Utena
Scrubs
Simoun
Spaced
Stargate Atlantis
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Sunshine (the 2007 movie)
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Torchwood
The Wire

I can't write explicit hetsmut or incest, but apart from that I'm easy. The fandom list is not exclusive or definitive: if you want a story from a fandom not on the list, ask for it anyway, since I may be familiar with it, but it'd probably be wise to give me a request from the list as a backup.

Um... okay, I think that's it. Hit me!

EDIT: All five prompts made! Thanks for playing, folks. The stories are on their way.

Gokusen

The Basics:

Gokusen is a manga, anime, and live drama series. There are significant differences between the animanga and drama versions, but the basic story remains the same: Kumiko Yamaguchi, the heiress of a yakuza family, has long dreamt of becoming a teacher. Her very first class is full of unruly thugs who want little to do with school, and even less to do with a painfully dorky math teacher.

Fortunately for her students, Kumiko (named "Yankumi" by her class) doesn't give up. She's been raised as a member of a yakuza family, and no high school toughs are about to scare her off! The story follows Yankumi as she gains the respect of her students, deals with her family business, and kicks the ass of anyone who dares to threaten student or family.

In short, Yankumi is awesome.

The vast majority of these stories are het (there is only one gen story on the following list), so I debated as to whether or not I should post these recs to [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon. I'd like to find some good gen fic in this fandom, but if a pairing has to dominate, Yankumi/Shin isn't a bad way to go. I like that the balance of power is in her favour: Kumiko is older, in a position of authority, and is tougher than Shin (he's smart, and tough, but is still the one who needs to be saved from various bad guys). Even when the stories are about Shin, the focus is usually still on Yankumi. I think that's kind of awesome.

Vids in this post approach the certain aspects of their respective shows from more critical point of view, and some of them are frightening and uncomfortable to watch. They all succeed in making you think.

Haibane Renmei is an anime which tells the gentle, somewhat cryptic story of Haibane: people with angel wings who hatch from giant cocoons, living among "ordinary" people in a walled city.

Which is not such a great description of it after all... )

I am currently writing a short fic to create some new content for this community, but as it isn't quite coming along as it should, I have decided to post links to a few older stories of mine which seem to fit the purpose of [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon.

Two were written in 2006 and 2007, while the others are fairly recent. All of them attempt to flesh out the biographical backstory of major and minor female characters, either in the "Ten Moments in the Life of..." format or as a "Five Things" series of drabbles or vignettes dealing with the themes of childhood and parenthood.

Lord of the Rings (Ioreth): The Roses of Imloth Melui

Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga (Elena Bothari): Thy Mother's Glass

Doctor Who (Sarah Jane Smith): I have loved the stars too fondly

Battlestar Galactica (Starbuck): Thea Soteira, Thea Apollousa
[identity profile] lstarrunner.livejournal.com

Universe: loosely Transformers Generation 1 cartoon.

Rated: NC-17 for detailed physical intimacy between mechanical beings, including plug-n-play, and a graphic description of what amounts to child abuse, past. GRAPHIC.

Author's Notes: Only Cobweb (nicknamed 'Enny') and Cobweb's missing friend are my creations, all else belong to corporations. Cobweb ... Oh Sweet Primus! Astrotrain figured some things out about Cobweb, things I did not know before, and then I was graced with Cobweb's own point-of-view. Brace yourself. It took me a few days to adjust to what Cobweb had to say. Among other things, I would have sworn that I would never write a rape. As far as I know, I am the originator of the term "meiotronic ratio". 8700 words, not including the footnote.

It's in my journal.

Mods, if you decide to delete it, let me know.

Fandom: Wonder Woman/ DC Comics
Pairing: Wonder Woman (Diana)/ Io (weapons-mistress of the Amazons)
Rating: um... PG?, femslash
Prompt(s): DC Comics, Diana/Io (Wonder Woman/Amazon), magic @[livejournal.com profile] femslash_today's v-day porn battle & theme #1 - unrequited @ [livejournal.com profile] femslash_n_flux
Note: this is that long-suffering wonder woman/io fic i mentioned awhile back. saw a prompt for the [livejournal.com profile] femslash_today v-day porn battle thing and decided to try for that. turned out too long and not at all porny as i would have hoped. also was considering an early version of this for the [livejournal.com profile] femslash_n_flux theme "unrequited", but the muses wouldn't cooperate. pathetic, eh?
Note #2: thanks to [livejournal.com profile] cdybedahl for pointing out a technical boo-boo :)
