Villains by Necessity... the Eve Forward novel?

That's the one! And while I like Kaylana and Valerie well enough, Blackmail's my favorite of the main characters. (I'm not sure if Cata quite counts as a favorite character, since I've filled in the gaps with her, but the story of what people who got whitewashed do with themselves after the spell is gone fascinates me and she was a natural choice to tell that story.)
