I figured I'd share some links to some awesome fics I've collected over the years.


Fandom: Angel: the Series
Title: Going Scully by Roseveare
Rec: The story follows Kate Lockley after she's first introduced to the world of vampires and demons. Kate is hunting a demon, and being very much a cop here. The story is Kate POV and does an awesome job of showing Kate trying to adjust to this new shift in her reality and how it does and doesn't affect how she handles this problem.

Fandom: Harry Potter
Title: A Murmur by istalksnape
Rec: The story is Minerva/Sybil slash, and while being wonderfully in character, also gives us something we don't get to see enough of: older women in a healthy relationship with a good sex life.

Fandom: DC Comics - specifically the Batfamily
Title: Masks by Amara Anon
Rec: The story focuses on Barbara and Cassandra, and explores why Cassandra might have chosen to keep that full face mask on her costume.

Fandom: Power Rangers - specifically MMPR-Zeo
Title: Legacy of Power by second_batgirl
Rec: The story focuses on the first 5 female Rangers and what being a Ranger means to them. It's very introspective and touching and reflects the differences between the girls nicely.

Fandom: Gilmore Girls
Title: Boston Marriage by jae_w
Rec: The story is Rory/Paris and rather hilarious. Paris decides that she and Rory should have a Boston Marriage, and as such proceeds to woo Rory in a very Paris-like way. The author does a good job of keeping up the dialogue speed of the show, as well as the humour.

Fandom: Marvel Comics - specifically the X-titles
Title: Mother to Mother by Alara Rogers
Rec: This is a very touching Mystique story that works to reconcile the various backstories we're given for her and the birth of her son Nightcrawler.

Fandom: The Breakfast Club
Title: Appearances by lazaefair
Rec: This is a nice little look into Claire's life before the movie and some of the things that might have driven her reactions.

Fandom: Narnia - bookverse, so will spoil the movies
Title: The Queen's Return by honorh
Rec: This is a beautiful and sad story about how Susan left Narnia and survived the events of The Last Battle.

Fandom: Narnia - bookverse, but deals with the White Witch's backstory, so spoils only The Magician's Nephew
Title: Before Once Upon a Time by Meltha
Rec: This is an interesting and sad possible childhood for Jadis and her sister.

I really feel like, short of that one canon scene, drunk and moping over how much boys sucked in season six or seven, this is how it would go down. (Of course, nothing materialized that season, but boy did that moment make the proud owner of my very first pair of femmeslash goggles :P) The fic's characterization is so spot on and like you said, the dialogue and pacing are great.
