Doctor Who has quite the tradition of ladies who don't conform to normal, but my favourite has probably got to be Ace, the companion of the Seventh Doctor. So here I bring you some lovely Ace picspam, in chronological order - kind of! Most of the pictures are clickable thumbnails so it shouldn't take too long to load!

Ace related - but not to the picspam as such - in one of my fic universes an older Ace has become leader of Torchwood 4, which is now in Liverpool.

These are various promo pics from Ace's first proper series. She became even more interesting in the next season, which included my favourite episode, Battlefield.

Battlefield

This is Ace and Shou Yuing - it was great to see 2 women bonding over things that go *boom* for a change.

And she got some great costumes in this season too

The end of Doctor Who on our screens for the time being was not however the end of Ace - she turned up in the New Adventures novels growing older, wiser and harder.

As an aside to this, Sophie Aldred did a photoshoot dressed in Dalek-Hunter Ace's combat gear. These were in the book called Ace: The Inside Story of the End of an Era.

[livejournal.com profile] holo_daxy has done a wonderful banner using these pics...

The last time Ace turned up in the New Adventures Novels she was Time's Vigilante - on a time-travelling motorbike no less as can be seen in the artwork from the novel 'Lungbarrow' available as a BBC ebook.

she was also in contact with both Romana and Leela - artwork again from Lungbarrow.

Now Sophie is reprising Ace in the Big Finish Audios. The Ace of the New Adventures doesn't exist - or not yet - in the BF universe, but I like to think she will, in some way.

And to finish - it's not an Ace pic as such, but it could be...

I'll have to track them down.

Yes, absolutely. Those books are the best! I wonder if there is anyone out there who actually liked the film? That scene in the Grey King is one of my favourites. "Welsh babies must dribble a lot" :P She manages to show the beginning of the friendship so easily.

Good point. It makes me sad to remember how excited I was when I first heard they were making the film.

I chickened out last time I was supposed to pronounce a place name to someone from North Wales. I think I just pointed in the right direction. I could do Machynlleth but remembering how to apply it to other names is a different story.

"The mountains are singing, and the lady comes" Impressive! I wouldn't know where to start.

I don't get to talk Susan Cooper enough.

I was just thinking that Jane fic would be perfect for halfamoon. I don't have many ideas. I wonder what Jane grew up to do? I can't remember any hints from the books as there were for her brothers.

I read the Weirdstone of Brisingamen fairly recently. I liked it, but it didn't grab me all that much. For some reason I didn't read it as a child (maybe they didn't have it in the school library?) I've meant to give it another try.
