Intro/FAQ

Tally for April 16-30 is now updated; please check to make sure I have it correct!

My check-in: Rabbit rabbit! I dunno, y'all. I'm between projects and struggling to find things I even want to add an alibi sentence to. No writing yet today, but after I post I'm going to look for something iddyful to play with and see if that helps. Further bulletins as events warrant.

ETA: sat down and wrote a long email brainstorming story ideas to one of my charity auction winners. Shocker, but it turns out that writing down my ideas greases my imagination more than just trying to randomly think up some ideas. (I say "shocker": I've known for a while that a lot of my writing problems solves themselves in the writing of them, not by sitting around trying to think my way out of them!)

Well. I need prayers again. I fell going into the doctor's office this morning. And broke my arm. Now I'm going to be off work again. And hoping my short-term disability comes through fast. Because the situation is not good. I now must dictate everything into the computer and then cut and paste it because I can't type. So much bad luck lately.
I'm in a lot of pain because I also hurt my back ribs and knee. I don't know if they're broken. The doctor only sent me for X-rays for the arm. I don't know how bad it is yet because I saw the results in My Chart online, but no doctor has reviewed it yet. I'm in a lot of trouble here. So, I need lots of prayers. Thank you.

I guess Miami Vice is going to be distracting me again. It's the only thing that can help. I'm not sure how I'm going to sleep, I guess in the recliner for a while. I have no idea how I'm going to take care of the daily household stuff with only one hand. And stiff and sore. It happened on a Friday too, so I probably won't be able to talk to anyone until Monday.

I just feel like talking about my current ship preferences.

aim ai )

I'm not quite done with evermaiden but Macaw/Pavone...please...

Flowers series I will mention but Chidori/Erika is still my OTP. I love all the ships but Erika is my favorite character, so that makes things kind of simple for ranking lol. Nerine/Yuzuriha having a drama CD about their marriage upcoming though is so fire though?

Lady in Mystery )

neon clash )

Paradise - noting just to note because I think it's obvious from other posts, but Azuma/Mitsugi is so good in Paradise, it is my ship of that game for sure, I love Mitsugi so much and he is the perfect mix of blunt and my pace and awkward, and honestly that's good for Azuma.

Slow Damage )

Togainu no Chi )

Tokyo 24ku )

twilight aqua city - I don't know at this point. I think maybe Hozumi after all even though I wasn't really a fan of his route. Or Yae. I'm pretty cooled off on this game overall at this point.

Thinking about what I love about Dreamwidth, verbs occurred to me. That is, first one, and then more, action words that most characterize this specific kind of sharing and community for me (and, I hope, for you) bubbled up. And the more I thought about them, the more I realized their weight and valence.

Okay, so this week's drama accidentally continued?

  • Tuesday: went to the doctor and maybe cried at him a bit because I am so tired. I'll go into the whole thing in another post because my note in the appointment request were verbatim "Med review and mental health getting worse, yay" and you can skip it. Short version: I'm doing all of the reasonable things I could be doing to not be crazy, and he's sending me for the MOT of blood tests to see if there's anything physically wrong.

  • Wednesday: jesus christ.
    • Library that was closed due raw sewage shorting the system re-opens!

    • Coworker who's only worked in academic libraries: A customer thinks she saw someone with a knife upstairs!

  • Found the one (1) phlebotomist who has ever heard me say "Fair warning, the last guy needed a butterfly needle to get anything out of me" and not taken it as a challenge. Like, checked my arms, asked me to pick one, boom, needle in and vials full. First try, all of maybe thirty seconds. What a queen.

  • I made the joke about it being an MOT of blood tests, and the phlebotomist joked back about if I was getting them every year, and uhhhhh yes I am actually! Pretty sure the doc sent me for a blood test this time last year as well!

  • Realised that you can get watches that will monitor your sleep for you and went "... Fuck. Maybe I do have to do this." If only to rule out the issue being that I'm sleeping for twelve hours and only actually getting an hour of rest.

So yeah, mildly eventful week!

To make a rice tart. Take a quarter pound of rice and cook it in water and take a few almonds and pound it all together well and beat eggs into it. And when it is almost finished baking, then pour hot fat on top, then it will form a hard crust, so that it becomes good.

I'm not used to feeling very fatigued when I have strep but I not only slept in today, it felt like it took forever to really get moving. It's faded a bit as the day has gone on, at least, and I'm anticipating a good night of sleep. It just feels unfair to be hit with this now after I've been taking my medicine for a couple of days, lol. Although, come to think of it, I did start to feel tired pretty suddenly towards the end of Tuesday... Didn't really have that problem again until now, though, so my point stands!

Since it feels a little silly to go back to work for just Friday before the weekend, I actually considered whether the fatigue was reason enough to call out again. It's not like my job is physically strenuous, though, and I'd hate to leave my officemate hanging on what's usually our busiest day. I can always leave early if I have to.

Well that's a scary thing I did

I said yes to reading my story and I'll be doing it friday night next friday. It's 3K and I am NOT a voice actor. It's a bit daunting. I've done it before, oddly once WAY back in 1997 in the James Thurber house. I don't remember how I was selected. I remember it was in the paper. I can't remember what I read. I read a flash fic last week. This feels a bit different. It's not. Oddly enough with all the writing related stuff on YT, there isn't much about how best to read your own work (I was looking for ideas).

I'm hoping this cool weather (it's March out there again) lasts the weekend. The outdoors steampunk thing is running on Saturday. I plan to go.

I AM rethinking free comic book day since my store is in Huntington and that's 70 miles away and gas was 3.89 on Tuesday. 4.29 yesterday morning. 4.69 8 hours later and 5$ today after I left work. Hell I have regrets about going to Louisville at this point.

I decided not to go to the wedding I was invited to. I'd have to drive all the way back down here 2 weeks after I go home and I'm the only one from work invited so I'll know no one but the couple. I don't know what I'm doing for vacation now.

Hmm I could use an alpha reader for the new novel I think. Ah well, really wish I had a closer writers group here that could fulfill that function.

Work-related. I'm the bridge between two groups and I found the issue and (hopefully gently) suggested a correction.

It worked.

HUZZAH.

Now I'm hungry, I need to get some food, and I'm going to be solo supporting the system this PM because supervisor is taking some time-off-in-lieu of hours already worked. (I kind of did this last weekend).
