I've gone through Polyamorous Recs and pulled a few stories from each fandom page. There's a mix of gen, het, and slash in here, canon characters and OCs. A-F today, and the rest later. Because there's a lot.

Alias

_____________, by Elizabeth.
Nestra: Yes, that's the title of the story. If that alone doesn't put people off, it's second person, narrated by an OFC. Still reading? Good. You won't regret it.

The Rarest Faith, by Jess.
Nestra: A really nice story about Sydney and Francie's friendship, starting from the beginning.

Angel

Harmonic Distortion, by irfikos.
shrift: Hee! Spill Harmony's Frappuccino and suffer the consequences.

Maternity, by melymbrosia.
Nestra: Darla contemplates motherhood. There's not a wasted word here.

Things Left Undone, by minnow.
Nestra: Twelve stories based on the aftermath of "Not Fade Away." I read these as they were posted, and each one was better than the last. They show such great affection for the show and such careful thought. (Harmony, Nina, Anne, Harry, Fred, Cordelia, Lilah, Faith, Illyria, Kate, and others).

Anime/Manga

Ouran High School Host Club

Five Men Fujioka Haruhi Didn't Kiss (And One She Did), by Aishuu and Sophia Prester.
shrift: It looks like I'll be perfectly content to sit here while Sophia and Aishuu write all the Ouran Host Club fic I didn't know that I desperately wanted to read.

Samurai Champloo

Distance, by scribblemoose.
Nestra: I always love Mugen and Jin, but this made me love Fuu just as much. I love seeing what she's learned and how she's changed, and the three of them together are just perfect, for all their differences.

Buffy

Five Ways the World Won't End (And One Way It Could), by C. L. Kamnikar.
Nestra: I'm pretty thrilled with the way the show did end, but Christina came up with some smashing alternatives. Some spoilers for Fray in the last one. It's number 3, though, that really got to me.

Music From a Farther Room, by Kyra Cullinan.
Nestra: I love when a story does this to me. I'm reading, and it's beautifully written, but I'm not sure where it's going, and then I reach the end and it all makes sense.

Pianissimo, by Mad Poetess.
Nestra: After "Once More, With Feeling", Tara can't sing any more.

September, 02, by Nikapi.
Nestra: Buffy and Xander repair the damage done by a demon attack. A charming friendship fic, and there's not enough of those out there.

today and every day, by Nifra Idril.
Nestra: Five things that probably happened to Faith.

You, Me, and Shania Twain, by Hostile Seventeen.
Nestra: A truly excellent dead letter that builds on memories and observations and ends up pointing out a few crucial differences between Faith and Buffy.

CSI

The Legend of Don Jose, by cgb.
shrift: I really enjoyed this Catherine POV, drawing upon her past experiences to solve a case while still taking time to listen to Sara and poke Grissom with the stick of long familiarity.

Crossovers

Angel/X-Files

Found People, by Jintian.
Nestra: Jintian draws some lovely parallels between characters on both shows and builds to an ending that takes my breath away.

Buffy/Star Trek

Done, by Kathleen Dailey.
Nestra: A clever crossover that puts Anya in the middle of a certain famous event...

Harry Potter/Sandman

The Language That God Speaks, by Liz Barr.
Nestra: All libraries are one, and Hermione's always loved libraries.

Highlander/Temeraire

Auld Lang Syne, by Sophia Prester.
Nestra: Oh, just perfect and lovely. An effortless crossover.

Stargate Atlantis/Wonderfalls

Miss Anthropic, by Shaye.
Nestra: Jaye Tyler, Rodney McKay. Either they'd be implausibly good friends, or they'd be each others nemeses.

Supernatural/Veronica Mars

Bustin' Makes Me Feel Good, by alazysod.
shrift: Yay! Sam and Dean team up with Veronica Mars to solve a case.

DC Comics

Batman

Five Things (That Aren't True About Stephanie Brown), by Ang Griffen.
shrift: Many of the 'five things' stories work to distill a character down to his or her basic elements, and this story is one of them. Equal parts funny, sexy, disturbing, and angsty.

Jason and Me, by David Hines.
shrift: Steph's wearing the Robin suit now: "Jason died in it, but that's got nothing to do with me."

Birds of Prey

Bird on a Wire, by Miriad.
shrift: Oh, I really liked this. I love finding good fic about Barbara, especially anything that's smart and bitter, and shows how important Dinah and Dick are to her.

Outsiders

I Want You (She's So), by Zee.
shrift: Zee wrote me hot Grace/Anissa! Watch me bounce with glee! Woo! Girlporn! Hot, dirty girlporn in the shower!

Young Justice

Nice to Have a Friend, by Houie.
shrift: Cassie and Cissie bond over boys.

Routinely, by Whitney.
shrift: "Her life had become a series of routines and patterns, and each day when she found herself doing exactly the same thing she had done the day before, Cissie had to remind herself that this was not a bad thing. This was not a bad thing at all."

Doctor Who

Five Planets Rose Tyler Never Visited, by Mireille.
shrift: I love the Five Things story format, and this one just killed me.

due South

An Officer and a Gentleman, by Laura Kaye.
Shrift: Whee! The Welsh voice is great, the Frannie voice is great, and their interaction is a pleasure just like it was on the show. I am so very sold on them as a couple.

Stella Kowalski, circa 1979, by Hel Virago.
Shrift: Not very many people write Stella, let alone a Stella I like and understand, but Hel nails her. (And gets her nailed.)

Farscape

Five Things that Never Happened to Aeryn Sun, by cofax.
Nestra: Although, honestly, who can say "never" when you're talking about Farscape. Some you'll see coming, and some you never will.

Foolish Girl, by Shaye.
Nestra: I'm not...entirely convinced I buy everything in this story, but it's a great read and a great fleshing-out of Gilina.

Hinterlands, by Shaye.
Nestra: I can't *believe* I forgot to rec this sooner. I think it's special, even for Farscape -- a truly adult story, with characters who live adult lives, knowing that things don't always work out the way they expected, but finding joy in new places. Everyone in the story is treated fairly and intelligently, and it's beautiful.

Home Fires Burning, by Shaye.
Shrift: We never got Sikozu's backstory, but Shaye writes it so very well that I'm going to take this story as canon.

In Bloom, by StarsGoBlue.
shrift: Oh, Zhaan! If only it had happened this way.

Recipere, by KodiakkeMax.
Shrift: Desperately disturbing Noranti POV in the most perfect of ways.

Say Nothing, by Fialka.
Nestra: "It's going to be okay," Chiana says, even though it won't. Chiana helps put Aeryn back together, just a little.

Shades of Grey, by Apathy.
Shrift: Five things that never happened to Chiana, five stories of violence, war, and love.

Let Them Eat Cake, by AstroGirl.
Nestra: This is funny and frothy and utterly like both Jool and Chiana.

Firefly

Academies, by pearl-o.
Nestra: Five academies River never attended, each illuminating and just a little sad.

charmed life, by Northlight.
shrift: "Inara has a story."

Different For Girls, by Mosca.
shrift: Absolutely wonderful Zoe POV: But Zoe had to be courageous. Mal wanted to be, wanted to rule over them all with that swagger he almost deserved, but she'd always been the one to pick up that slack.

Patience, by hossgal.
shrift: "It has been a year, just, since Malcolm Reynolds dropped Stevison's horse on top of her, breaking her hip and shattering one ankle."

Daughers of Jerusalem, by Hth.
Nestra: I love the geometry of this, how everything is worked out carefully, precisely, but ornately.

Elias Budd's Charming Widow, by Pearl-o.
shrift: Yay, a story about Saffron! The voice of this is spot-on fantastic.
