Title: Return to Westeros
Fandom: Game of Thrones
Character: Arya Stark (with Bran Stark, Brienne of Tarth, Yara Greyjoy, Sansa Stark, and Jon Snow)
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 330
Summary: Arya takes a break from her West of Westeros excursion to return home
A/N: I had the hardest time picking a character for this prompt and then I remembered Arya's "What's West of Westeros?" line and this fell into place from there.
Arya had asked, “What's West of Westeros?” and set to find out. The answer, she discovered disappointingly, was “more of the same.” People had strayed further and not bothered to come back and they dealt with the same petty issues that Arya thought she'd left behind.
The open sea was a fine getaway, albeit a bit dull after a time, so Arya ventured back the long way round. Bran had greeted her with a “knew you'd be back,” but did so in a way that was more creepy than obnoxious. She grew frustrated with him in a hurry and spent her days in Kings Landing practicing the blade with Brienne. It felt good to have a sword in her hand again, even though the peace that currently reigned in the Six Kingdoms meant she didn't need it.
After that was a lovely visit with Yara Greyjoy, talking about life on the water and engaging in a few robust tumbles that ensured that both of their needs would be met for the immediate future.
From there, Arya traveled by horse back to Winterfell to find Sansa in all of her glory as Queen of the North. Sansa had asked her to stay on, but Arya no more wanted to be in her sister's shadow at this point in her life as she had at any other. Winterfell would always be home, but she had to forge her own path and be beholden to no one.
Jon had understood what that meant to her. He said as much when her travels had taken her north. She spent the longest time there, helping Jon and the wildlings as they worked to rebuild the wall. It was comforting to know that Jon had found a family here and they accepted her easily as well.
Days grew longer and her feet itched to wander once again. “Where will you go?” Jon asked.
“Someplace new,” she answered. There was still a lot of world to explore.
