Title: Safe at Home
Fandom: Astrid
Pairing/Characters: Raphaelle Coste/Astrid Nielson
Rating: G
Summary:
A/N: I've written a little double drabble for every season of Astrid I've seen. This one is for S5; "Her Sanctuary" fits so well! Also fills my 100ships table prompt #13 (Blue).

Raph had learned to love the calming blues and clean lines that were characteristic of Astrid’s spaces — the cool, the quiet, the order. It wasn’t how Raph lived, but she had come to appreciate it from her own little piece of Astrid’s life. Indeed, it had become... necessary, to her — like Astrid herself.

But today it brought little pleasure. She was too scared. In truth, Astrid’s seizures scared her more than just about any of the dangerous situations she had found herself in, with Astrid and without her.

She couldn’t help cradling Astrid when she fell, couldn’t help stroking her hair, holding her hand — but those things were done for her own benefit, Raph knew. Her own comfort. Touch wasn’t what made Astrid feel safe.

So after this latest episode, Raph brought her back to her apartment. She carried Astrid that last distance alone — so no stranger would enter Astrid’s home — and laid her out on the couch.

“Astrid,” she whispered, touching her hand once more before tucking Astrid under the blanket and pulling it up around her shoulders, in the way she knew Astrid liked best — leaving her cocooned and safe. “You’ll be all right.”

She had to be.
