Marion had been on the move for her entire childhood. Abner had taken her with him from site to site as he went searching for his little trinkets. She learned quickly how to make new friends wherever she landed. She ate strange foods, learned new languages, and figured out pretty quickly what not to do to tick someone off.
Life was an adventure, sure, but she longed just to settle down for a while.
When Abner died, she found a broker for most of the trinkets he'd accumulated over the years that didn't wind up in a collection at some museum or other. With a lot of negotiation, she was able to get a reasonable price for the lot and took off to a place they'd been when she was nine years old, Nepal.
She found the bar by accident and fell in love with it immediately. It became a place of refuge for her. After a while, she picked up time as a bartender. When the owner retired, he sold the bar to her. The transition was seamless. Marion had become a fixture in the place. It didn't have a name. It didn't need one- it was the only watering hole for miles around. She built a family of regulars and they looked out for her. She'd found a home here and was comfortable.
And then Indiana Jones walked back into her life and ruined everything.
