Day 8 - Fic - OZ (HBO) - Gloria Nathan
Feb. 10th, 2026 06:38 amTitle: Little Annoyances
Fandom: OZ (HBO)
Character: Gloria Nathan
Rating: G
Word Count: 254
Summary: Another day, another email from the drug company
Gloria got a cup of coffee from the breakroom that was mostly grounds (Mineo must have been the one to refill the pot today), and went back to her office to look through emails. There was one from Wygert regarding a request she'd made. She opened it to read that one of the group reviewing the case needed some more information. This was the third request for information and the fourth person that she needed to report to for this particular drug. Everything with them was justify, justify, justify. Apparently, “the prisoner might die if he doesn't receive this drug” wasn't enough justification for them. They wanted to compare it to cheaper alternatives or shove down some study that said that it was only effective if conditions a, b, and c were met and had the prisoner received these tests (which she had put a request in for as well and had yet to hear back.)
It was enough to make her pull out her hair or go out to her car and scream for twenty minutes. Still, she had a job to do. She fired off an email with the information Wygert wanted, finished her coffee, and returned to her rounds. She held hands and looked into the eyes of the men she helped. She wanted them to know that to her they were more than a number. This job meant so much to her that the larger successes were worth the little annoyances that she had to go through to get there.
