Title: Vulcans Don't Feel Guilt (Usually)
Fandom: Star Trek: Enterprise
Character: T'Pol (Jonathan Archer & Charles "Trip" Tucker are also there)
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 351
Summary: The Captain was trying one of his getting-to-know you questions on her again

T'Pol is dining with the Captain and Commander Tucker when the Captain asks one of his questions that he likes to throw out to get to know her better. “What's your guilty pleasure?”

“I don't understand,” she says. As Archer knows, Vulcans are trained to control their emotions so intense feelings such as guilt and pleasure aren't something that they admit to experiencing as regularly as humans do.

“It's something you enjoy that maybe the average Vulcan would frown upon. So, you know, pretty much everything,” Trip says.

“I don't think the Captain would consider serving on Enterprise as a guilty pleasure, but it does fit your definition.”

“I'm honored that it was the first thing that came to your mind, but it's not exactly what I was looking for. I see you drinking tea all the time. Have you ever livened it up with anything?”

“Why?” she asks and Trip laughs at her.

“I think it's a lost cause, Captain,” he says.

“You're probably right,” Archer agrees and the conversation turns to other things.

The question of guilty pleasures comes to T'Pol's mind that evening in the midst of her meditation time. She thinks about being in charge of the ship whenever the Captain goes on an away mission. It's such a change from just being the Science Officer and even though there can be occasionally difficult decisions to make, there's a part of her that delights that she's the one that is making the decisions. She'll never mention it to the Captain though.

Maybe that feeling that she enjoys it so much and won't talk about it is guilt. Interesting.

Is there anything else that fits that definition, she wonders.

She is momentarily distracted by the thought of Commander Tucker stirring five spoonfuls of sugar into his tea, the sticky sweetness that she can imagine tasting on his li-

No, nothing else, she thinks, hurrying to put the images that follow out of her mind. She takes a calming breath and tries to center herself again.

Vulcans don't feel guilt, T'Pol tells herself, but she doesn't quite believe it.

This POV was so cool! I love how she tries to make out some sense out of the question she doesn't quite understand.
