halfamoonI always think about how cute Seven & Naomi's friendship was on Voyager 🥰 Here's a little double drabble featuring dessert
Title: Absolutely necessary

“Can I have an extra slice of cake? Pleaaaaseee.”
Seven assesses Naomi's facial expression – exaggerated pout, wide eyes – and decides that the request isn't because Naomi feels like she's lacking in sustenance. No, this is that ruse Neelix warned her about. The ploy to consume extra sugar.
“That is not necessary.”
Naomi shakes her head, slightly too vigorously. “It's absolutely necessary,” she insists.
“You already have all the nutrition you require.”
“Cake isn't about nutrition,” Naomi continues. “It's about joy. Eating it makes you happy.”
Seven pauses, pondering the logic of this argument.
She supposes it couldn't hurt to try.

Years later, Seven slides into a booth in a secluded restaurant in San Francisco. Naomi is already waiting, clad in her cadet uniform. She grins as soon as Seven sits down.
They catch up over dinner. It's different from their meals together in Voyager's mess hall – they're surrounded by strangers here, not the crew they considered family during the journey to Earth. But it's good to see an old friend again.
“How about cake for dessert?” Naomi suggests after they've cleaned their plates.
Well, Seven's learned over the years not to refuse a little bit of extra joy in life.
