ineffablecabbage: otter holding hands with other otter (otters)

For "murder/mayhem," I picked creations that focused on women whose stories began as heroes and then suddenly suffered a dramatic change in storytelling, where they suddenly started killing people or otherwise causing mayhem, usually to give someone else in the story pain (and usually, a male character.)  I didn't pick storylines like say, Dark Phoenix, where the story remained compelling, but rather, storylines where the abrupt change in morality quite arguably made everything quite worse. These creations fix or explain the parts of those storylines that didn't work for me.

Title/Link: They Don't Get It
Creator: ajvt
Fandom: DC Comics
Characters: Rose Wilson/Cassie Sandsmark, ensemble.
Rating/Warnings: Gen. Warnings for Rose's canon violence history, including forced drugging by her father.
Summary: Rose has a nightmare. Or maybe something worse.

Reccer's Notes: The story truly explores how difficult it is for Rose to try to put her life back together after the betrayal and brutality that her father committed. It shows her trying, but it also shows the gap between what the Titans can understand and Rose's need to heal.

Fandom: Angel the Series
Characters: Cordelia/Angel
Rating: Teen
Summary: “Sometimes I think you’re lucky. That you don’t have a reflection.” In which Cordy survives her possession by Jasmine, and figures out how to keep living.

Reccer's Notes: This fic does a really great job of allowing Cordelia to have the PTSD one would expect from surviving the experiences of season 4 of Angel. She was violated repeatedly in that season, and the fic doesn't pretend otherwise. Angel is a good friend here, with hints of maybe more, but the focus is on her healing.

Fandom: Chicago Med
Characters: Ava Bekker/Connor Rhodes
Rating: R, Warnings for suicide and murder, and lots of blood.
Summary: quick video of after starting season 5

Reccer's Notes: Taylor Swift providing the no apology music for Ava Bekker is absolutely a great vid idea. :) Although I prefer an Ava who didn't start murdering people and who would have lived, this gives a very good look at her frantic point of view.
