Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Summary: A demon and a vampire walk into a bar
A/N: Present day. Just figure they both were resurrected again.
She's at a bar when you see her again. The bartender checks her identification, looks from the license to her face, then back at the license again. You sidle up in the seat next to her.
“She'll have a whiskey sour and I'll have a rum and coke,” you say.
“You always were the sweet one, Anyanka,” Darla says, turning toward you and leaning forward to kiss your cheek.
“Only in my choice of beverages.”
“I had a very sweet twenty-five year-old on the way in.”
“I'm sure he put some color in your cheeks.”
“She.”
“I thought we had an agreement on that.”
“These days, my love, beggars cannot be choosers. What have you done with yourself lately?”
“Well, last week, the stock market thing? That was me.”
“No,” Darla says, voice holding a trace of awe.
“I was just fulfilling a very simple request from a scorned lover who wanted her boyfriend to lose a little money. I tell you social media has been an incredible asset to our business. You can accomplish pretty much anything with a little tweet.”
The bartender sets down your drinks. You clink glasses with Darla.
“How have you been?” you ask.
“Oh, you know. Dead, resurrected, dead, resurrected. I really wish the Powers would make up their minds.”
“I know the feeling. Maybe the Powers think the world is far more interesting with you in it.”
“Are you trying to seduce me?”
“Is it working?”
“At this point, 'hello' would work. It's been ages since I've had a good tumble.”
Images flash through your mind of the last time you were together- Los Angeles in the early seventies. Half a century ago. You remember it like it was yesterday. The way she looked, the way you touched her, the promises you made in the dark that it wasn't the last time it'd be like this.
You look at her now, like you, physically unchanged since that day. You wonder if she still likes the same things, if she still likes to be touched in the same way.
She smiles and you can't wait to find out.
