Title: Party Like Its 65 Million BC
The next day, when they both woke up feeling like Ayla had smacked them over the head with a club several times, the key to their time gate network was nowhere to be seen and she could hear their host in battle against some ornery dinosaurs, Lucca realised that she must never again trust Marle about anything, ever.
Fandom: Chrono Trigger
Rating: PG-13/Gen
Characters: Lucca & Marle, Robo, Ayla
Length: 285 words
Tags: alcohol, minor spoilers
Summary: In which Lucca learns a lesson about strange time periods and unfamiliar alcohol.
All of Marle's points made sense, although Lucca suspected an ulterior motive. There really wasn't much in the way of useful work they could do, what with their need for Dreamstone. In a way, this could be said to constitute work, as attending the party would make a good diplomatic impression on the people who currently had all the Dreamstone. Marle would know about this kind of scenario - she probably had to put up with drunk rowdy important people at her father's official banquets all the time. They became generous when they had some drink inside them, said the Princess. It might be seen as rude to not have any drink whatsoever. Yes, it did look very strong, but it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to try some genuine prehistoric alcoholic beverages, and they'd probably be okay as long as they only tried a little. They should probably dance, too - it looked like it had ritual significance so again, it was likely to be rude not to if they were invited, and anyway, it looked a lot of fun. It was a while since they had actual fun and not, say, trudged through post-apocalyptic wastelands or dodged arrows and spells on battlefields. Even Robo was trying some booze and Lucca doubted it would do anything for the humanoid machine except be inefficient fuel. The next day, when they both woke up feeling like Ayla had smacked them over the head with a club several times, the key to their time gate network was nowhere to be seen and she could hear their host in battle against some ornery dinosaurs, Lucca realised that she must never again trust Marle about anything, ever.
