Title: A Plague of Locusts
Fandom: Stella Glow
Rating: PG-13/Gen
Warnings: major spoilers (endgame, true ending), religion, discussion of dismantling a synthetic humanoid character
Characters: Veronica, Giselle, Hilda
Summary: The flight of angels now blotted out half the sky.
Word count: 300

Half the sky was covered in angels now. Still little more than black, gleaming shapes on the horizon, they buzzed on metallic wings, sounding like a plague of locusts, a punishment for defying a most terrible God... An apt analogy, in that they would quite efficiently destroy every human on the planet like locusts devour greenery. She shivered. There wasn't much time left, by her calculations. They would completely overwhelm the city gates in those numbers, no matter how many song-witches they fielded, then the civilians would be doomed. The plan wasn't to try and hold out, of course - that would be suicide. Her allies had already taken the fight to the enemy, mounting a raid on the Moon itself. The threat level was almost as high, mind you, and the timing almost as tight. She particularly wondered how Giselle was holding out, fighting her own. Giselle was a recent defector from the angelic army who had uncharacteristic levels of self-awareness that had shattered her programming. Veronica still couldn't work out how that was even possible. When she'd cheerfully promised to find out even if it meant taking the angel apart bolt by bolt, Hilda had thumped her. Veronica still wasn't sure why. It had been a sincere offer to help the poor woman find out more about who exactly she was and why. Were these people seriously trying to insult her by implying that she couldn't put an angel back together after she dismantled her?

Veronica shrugged. She hoped they were all okay. Praying for them had never been her style, and right at this moment seemed downright counterproductive, so she went back to her computer and carried on doing what reconnaissance work she could on the completely unfamiliar territory of the literal dark side of the moon.

What an intriguing look at a tense situation! Veronica seems like a good woman to have at your side.
