chaila: by me (wonder woman - warrior princess)
[personal profile] chaila posting in [community profile] halfamoon
Here are some of my favorite female character-centric vids from the last year (including several from the recently-revealed [community profile] festivids gift exchange).

Caprica: Adam Raised a Cain by [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell - I don't even know this source, but the vid is an intense combination of robots, technology, teenage girls, and children growing beyond the imagination of their parents.

Code Name Verity: When Brakes Get Wet by [archiveofourown.org profile] thatfangirl - Yes, you read that right: a Code Name Verity vid! Which somehow manages to visualize the feelings of the book.

Friday Night Lights: Fire Door by [personal profile] frayadjacent - Tyra has one of my favorite arcs of any female character ever, and this vid captures it, and Tyra herself, perfectly.

Hanna: What Sharp Teeth You Have by [personal profile] affablyevil - A sharp, haunting character study. I haven't even seen this movie, but this vid makes me want to.

The Hunger Games: Boy With the Bubblegun by [livejournal.com profile] bironic - Uses footage from only the first movie to hint at a lot of what will come next. I love this conception of Katniss, among all the games and hunts that are going on.

The Hunger Games: Blood and Bone by [personal profile] linguology - Also uses footage only from the first movie. Beautiful visuals and symbolism.

Orphan Black: Close to Home by [personal profile] usuallyhats - Deftly tells both the stories of individual characters and brings them into a collective character study, with tons of thoughtful parallels. (This vid is from the Vienna Teng Aims Vid Album, which is mostly female character-centric and totally great!).

Pacific Rim: Level Up by [archiveofourown.org profile] starlightandstatic - Makoooooo! Beautiful and inspiring, just like Mako.

Pretty Little Liars: Gingerbread Coffin by [personal profile] prozacpark - Creepy and Gothic, telling the story of the complex overlapping relationships among so many women.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: We Used to Wait by [livejournal.com profile] nicole_anell - Sarah and Jesse and their manpain and my quiet sobbing.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: Strange Angels by [archiveofourown.org profile] sanguinity - A really thoughtful, almost harsh character study of Sarah, incorporating moments from both the movies and the TV show.

TSCC/Fringe: It will just become your life by maitikaHan - Sarah/Olivia. I. ship. it. so. hard.

Winter's Bone: White Chalk by [livejournal.com profile] hollywoodgrrl - A lovely study of Ree and the movie, so atmospheric and evocative.

Wonder Woman: Counting Stars by [personal profile] beccatoria

Wonder Woman: Breath of Life by [livejournal.com profile] bananainpajamas (*this link isn't up yet but hopefully it will be soon!)

I don't even know what to say about these Wonder Woman vids except to shout about myth, epicness, lady heroes, and my DIANA OF THEMYSCIRA feelings, so just watch them and you will understand.
