Teenage girls who get angry and frustrated with the world and try and make it fit the way it looks in their head are my absolute favourite things. Thus, I am a Briony Tallis stan for life.
I'm not going to try and argue that what she did to Robbie and Cee wasn't terrible, because it was, but she was a child. I find the way she goes about trying to atone for it so fascinating, the endless writing and re-writing, how she seems to become ever-so-slightly detached from reality. I don't think Romola Garai gets nearly enough credit for the work she does as the middle Briony in the film adaptation; there's this oddly rehearsed, almost stagey quality to the confrontation scene with Robbie and Cee that is heartbreakingly perfect for the character.
Basically, teenage girls with writerly ambitions and god complexes = BEST.
