There have been so many awesome recs in this community, it's become a wonderful resource. I'm sure all of us have bookmarked at least a handful of stories to read for later. However, I'm sure there are still some fandoms that have been missed.

My idea for this post is for it to be sort of a miniature version of fic-search communities like stargate_search.

First: post a comment to this entry requesting recs for a particular character, fandom, or type of fic/vid/fanart.

Then: look at other people's comments and see if you can reply, linking them to any stories/vids/fic of the type they requested. :D

Fascinating AU crossover between AtS and Casablanca. Great portrayals of Cordelia, Buffy, Lilah, and Fred.

Pheonix Burning
A classic. AU, future set after "The Gift." All six slayers are awesome, but Buffy and Sumiko are amazingly characterized.

Alias
No For Yes (Irina). The SpyRent backstory! 
Evergreen (Nadia). Post-apocalyptic awesomeness. Jack/Nadia.
Bind Them With Fury (Syd, mostly). What happens when Syd has had enough, and goes on the proactive?
Jack Bristow at the Edge of Reason (Bridget Jones and Syd (and Jack) - HiLARious) The only shortish fic on the list.

Goodnight Moon
Crossover with "The Day After Tomorrow." Amazing piece of writing, full stop.

Mononoke - a rec, some icons, and some fic links!

Well, I'm a bit on the late side here, but it's still Valentine's day, so!

I'd like to shine a bit of spotlight onto an oft-looked-over anime by the name of Mononoke. This series is a spin-off of Ayakashi - Classic Japanese Horror, which was an anthology of classical-style horror stories. The last story in this anthology was called Bakeneko (or, roughly, "Goblin Cat"); set in the Edo period, it surrounded a mysterious man known only as the Medicine Seller and his attempt to rid a samurai household of a cat-demon. Mononoke continues to follow this man as he attempts to rid different locales of different demons.

"Well," you're probably thinking, "that's a pretty standard premise, right? What's so special about that? And what does it have to do with celebrating female characters?" Well, I'll tell you - it's all in the execution. Something of a blend of mystery and horror, this series is full of some of the most brilliant storytelling and gorgeous visuals I've ever seen.

I can't recommend this series enough. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, and if, like me, you have a love for a good mind-fscking, you'd probably really enjoy this series.

If you're interested, the Ayakashi-Bakeneko arc has been released States-side along with the rest of Ayakashi, though it may not be available for long, since Geneon has ceased distribution. Mononoke, as far as I know, has not even been licensed, though it is available fansubbed - Shinsen has a megatorrent of the whole series for download. (I'd link, but I'm not sure if that's against the rules. Mods?)

Fic: How Still the Riddle Lies, The X-Files

I have been revising this story since last July, when I posted the first section in response to a challenge in the late, lamented xf_redux. I have finally finished it. This is about Dana Scully, at the very beginning of her partnership with Fox Mulder. It attempts to bring together many elements of her backstory, and to provide an explanation for why she chose to stay in what must have seemed to her a difficult and frustrating assignment. My thanks to emily_shore, for her detailed, intelligent comments, and her enthusiasm for this project. It is a much better story as a result of her input. I must also thank my husband Kyle, for his loving encouragement, and his invaluable editing skills. Any mistakes that remain are my own.

Length: I don't honestly know, maybe around 9,500? My kung-fu is the worst. It is rather loosely divided into chapters. There are two in Part One, and three in Part Two. It just worked out that way.
Summary: It is early season one. As Scully struggles to understand her brilliant erratic partner, and adjust to her new role as a field agent, she begins to have nightmares. They take place in a basement.

Posting just under the wire, because I've been hustling to get this done in time to participate. I didn't originally start writing this for halfamoon, but it's so focused on women kicking ass that it seemed like a perfect match. It is a brand new story, and I can credit this comm for getting me to finish and post.

Summary: The crazy gay sex curse is scary, but the cure might be scarier.
Word Count: About 11,000 (in two parts).
