Essay/External Blog Post: "My Feminism is 80s-Teen-Movie Flavored"

I love this celebration!  Here's a link to a blog post I wrote a few months ago called "My Feminism is 80s-Teen-Movie Flavored." It's about the source of my icon, which I never change cause I'm too lazy and because Billie Jean represents my values so perfectly. Has anyone out there seen "The Legend of Billie Jean?" It's from 1985 and I've come to think of it as my first feminist text.

If you haven't seen the movie, I hope you'll check it out. It's not on DVD, but you can now stream it on Netflix.

That movie changed my life. Seriously. I agree with everything in your blog post. It saw it when I was around twelve (at a Girl Scout slumber party if you can believe it!) and was struck by this young woman who was taking on the world, but not, as you say, for vengeance. But for equality.

When Putter cuts her own hair off, I still get chills. Excellent blog! Thank you!
