Day 13: Fic - Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans - Kudelia

After much waffling, I decided to pick a character whose "ruler" role isn't metaphorical. In the epilogue to this series, Kudelia finally ends up with real political power to make change on her world. Like many of the other characters I chose to write about this year, I love her determination 😊

Kudelia sits down at her desk. The view isn't any different than earlier. Her office remains the same as it was yesterday, and last week, and in the months before. 

In fact, the only change is with the new title that rests on her shoulders. 

Chairwoman of the Martian Union. 

It still doesn't feel real. Everything she's worked for – everything that she's lost – has culminated to this moment. People have placed their faith in her to make things better. 

The heavy weight threatens to swallow her with doubts. But then she thinks about her Tekkadan family. The lives they fought for but ultimately lost.

She has to stop the cycle from repeating. That's why she sought out the position she has now.

With a deep, calming breath, she picks up the first item on her desk that needs attention. 

Kudelia has plenty of work to do. Time to get started.

I love this. There's such a feeling of accomplishment for her character in this moment. And still, there's nothing to do but roll up her sleeves and get to work.

Thank you! She grows into such a good leader over the course of the series, I really enjoyed writing this one to showcase that 😊
