The world doesn't end.

Again.

There's no one to pat her on the back this time. No one to comfort her or lie to her and tell her that everything is going to be okay.

There's no relief because outside of a few select people who are still breathing (she hopes), no one knew that today was the day that the world could end.

There's just the gentle rocking of the bus as it heads toward Los Angeles.

She can't close her eyes because she still hears her own voice saying the words so calmly.

Close your eyes.

She knows the world is still turning, people are still going about their business, the bus gains another mile.

She knows this, but for her heart...

Today is the day the world ended.
