The potential keeps drawing us back in, even though the reality can be horribly frustrating.  &lt;span style='white-space: nowrap;'&gt;&lt;a href='http://liviapenn.livejournal.com/profile'&gt;&lt;img src='https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif' alt='[livejournal.com profile] ' style='vertical-align: text-bottom; border: 0; padding-right: 1px;' width='17' height='17'/&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;a href='http://liviapenn.livejournal.com/'&gt;&lt;b&gt;liviapenn&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt; and I ran an obscure-character challenge for comics called Comica Obscura for a couple of years, and the thing I'm most proud of about the challenge is that the ratio of male to female feature characters was almost fifty-fifty.  Behind the cut, a list of the stories that featured female characters:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="cut-wrapper"&gt;&lt;span style="display: none;" id="span-cuttag___1" class="cuttag"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;b class="cut-open"&gt;(&amp;nbsp;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;b class="cut-text"&gt;&lt;a href="https://halfamoon.dreamwidth.org/8610.html#cutid1"&gt;It takes a superpowered woman to get a dirty job done&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;b class="cut-close"&gt;&amp;nbsp;)&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;div style="display: none;" id="div-cuttag___1" aria-live="assertive"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Give one a shot!  There are the deadliest martial artists in the world, genius hackers, top spies, magicians, crackerjack journalists...With many independents as well as the more traditional superhero lines represented, you just might find something new and cool.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img src="https://www.dreamwidth.org/tools/commentcount?user=halfamoon&amp;ditemid=8610" width="30" height="12" alt="comment count unavailable" style="vertical-align: middle;"/&gt; comments</content>
