Watching women play hockey is one of my passions. So, in honor of National Girls and Women in Sport Day, here are a few photos of women's hockey.
Leading off is a picture of the opening ceremonical faceoff for the Professional Women's Hockey League, the new women's hockey league in North America (some of you may remember from the primer I wrote last year that I believed that it would never come to pass, but it did so here we are.) Billie Jean King, one of the league's investors and advisory board members, and Jayna Hefford, Hockey Hall of Fame Member and Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations for the league. Hefford shed a few happy tears during the moment (and I may have too)

Next, we have two players who are the best in the game: Marie-Philip Poulin and Hilary Knight

Some assorted shots of PWHL action and celebrations:

And finally, a video of Japan and Sweden from the 2020 Youth Olympic Games
For more information on the PWHL, visit their website at http://www.thepwhl.com For more information on women's hockey at all levels of play, check out The Ice Garden at http://www.theicegarden.com
