I think a lot of the stories I've recced can be read without canon knowledge. A lot of them take place before and after canon and they focus on relationships whose dynamics are clear on their own. I just wasn't sure enough about that to rec it in the no-canon-knowledge-needed post.

That's great to hear because this kind of gen/character study/slice-of-life feel that they seem to have is my #1 favorite thing to read. Also, I realized that one of your posts - and not even a rec - is a Mulan fic, so that's one canon I am familiar with. :D (I'm saving it to read tomorrow because right now it's ridiculously late in the night in my timezone.)
